Exclusivity Note: Each Gofuku figurine is hand-shaped and individually glazed, so no two pieces ever carry the same pattern or finish.

Shaped by hand at Nunobiki Kiln in Shiga, Japan, each Gofuku owl figurine is the work of master potter Kazuhiro Kojima, standing 1.6" tall (40 mm) and small enough to rest comfortably in a palm.

The ceramic body is finished in Nanasai Tenmoku, a glaze that transforms through kiln firing: natural patterns and luminous color emerge from the heat, settling differently on every piece.

No two figurines carry the same surface. Subtle shifts in tone appear unpredictably across teal, plum, sandy gold, and moss green, each one a quiet imprint of fire and craft.

Display all five together as a set, tuck them into different corners of your home as lucky charms, or use the cream figurine as a namecard holder. Hand wipe only.

The Artist

Kazuhiro Kojima

  • Location: Higashiomi, Shiga Prefecture
  • Technique: Nanasai Tenmoku
  • Tradition: Kyoto ware / Shigaraki ware

Born in 1972, Kazuhiro Kojima is a Japanese ceramic artist and son of Taro Kojima, founder of Nunobiki Kiln. Growing up surrounded by clay, fire, and his father's restless experimentation, the kiln was never a distant place. It was home.

After completing his studies at art college, he returned to Nunobiki and trained alongside his father, gradually developing a visual language distinctly his own. His signature subject is the owl, rendered using the Nanasai Tenmoku technique across a range of scales, from monumental ceramic statues to small, intimate accessories.

His pieces have been placed in hospitals, public institutions, and streetscapes, chosen for the sense of calm and quiet warmth they carry.
